Pet Emergency

When arriving at PetPB your pet will be thoroughly examined and evaluated by our highly trained and experienced emergency staff. The veterinarian will then present complete information regarding your pet’s condition and the treatment recommendations. You will be given a detailed treatment plan, including an estimate of cost associated with your pet’s needs. A deposit will be required.

The main structures of emergency care are the stabilization, diagnosis, and monitoring of the patient. With this in mind various life support and other important treatments may be required such as:

  • Oxygen therapy and support Blood tests
  • Transfusions such as whole blood, plasma, packed red blood cells IV fluids
  • Placement of chest tubes, feeding tubes, endotracheal tubes, and jugular catheters
  • Radiography and/or Ultrasound
  • Blood pressure, blood gas and possibly cardiac monitoring
  • ECG Monitoring
  • Surgery

Area clinics are able to refer to PetPB for their after-hours and ongoing cases. We are able to assist with a great many cases requiring ongoing treatment or monitoring such as:

  • Trauma Cases
  • Epilepsy with uncontrolled seizures
  • Poisonings
  • Insulin and diabetes-related issues

Detailed and thorough communication with your pet’s regular veterinarian is of highest importance for their continued care after they have been transferred to their regular veterinarian. PetPB will forward all information to your veterinarian in order to facilitate this care and ensure your pet’s medical record is complete. PetPB’s emergency veterinarians will also be available to discuss your pet’s treatment and condition with your regular veterinarian if further consult is required.

The highest level of skill, experience and compassion of our Emergency Team, along with our state-of-the-art clinic, allows PetPB to provide quality emergency and critical care for the most serious of injuries and illnesses, providing support and service when your regular veterinarian is not available.  We are open 24 hours per day, seven days per week, and 365 days per year.
